We all know how awesome if feels to receive something. Whether it a smile from a stranger, a hug from a good friend, a special gift from a loved one or even receiving something unexpected like a sign from the universe that you are in exactly the right place.
But personally- I love to give. I love the feeling I get when I give something to someone and know they will really appreciate it. It is the coolest thing. But you know what is even cooler? The fact that every single day we ALL have the power to give. We have the power to make someone’s not so good day- turn right around. It doesn’t mean going and buying the most expensive thing on the market- although that can most definitely be nice to- but just a simple gesture from the heart. Because when you give from the heart, it doesn’t come with a price.
This weekend I was at some Easter Markets in a coastal town up North. I was walking around checking out all the stalls when I caught the eye of an elderly woman standing behind a massive basket of cookies. She waved and said ‘would you like a free cookie love??’ (Ok- so she had me at cookie..) There was nothing to her stall but a big basket of free, homemade, choc-chip cookies. And yeah- they were the homemade type that only Nan’s have perfected.. Mmmm cookieeee. Anywho- She had baked these cookies and bagged them individually with a different printed message in each of them. I asked her why she was doing them for free, and she just said she loved cooking and she loved giving, so why not?! That was it. No catch- Just the desire to give.
Every single one of us has an amazing gift- The power to GIVE!
Giving a smile to a stranger, a compliment, a text message to a friend you haven’t seen in a while, a reason to dance, a hug, a letter, a photo, a meal or even just creating a new memory with someone is giving! And on that note of giving- how about we start giving back to ourselves? Giving ourselves a high-five, a hug, a compliment, a woof-whistle when we catch our sexy reflection in the mirror (Maybe avoid the last option in public- We don’t want people thinking you’re crazy!) Because that is where it all starts- realising our ability to give. And to give from your heart without expecting anything in return is even more beautiful.
I love this quote. Think of yourself as a candle for a moment. You have an amazing, glowing, bright, warming light- and only YOU have the ability to share it with the world. You can use your wonderful spark to light up someone else’s when they might need it most. And the best thing is you can give and give and GIVE some more- and you will only start to shine brighter!
You may not even realise how powerful a simple act of giving is. So what are you waiting for?? Get out there and start giving yourself wholeheartedly to this world. Once you do that, the Universe will give you everything you have ever needed right back- A grateful heart.
